Winx Club, the highly anticipated live action adaptation movie The Legend of Winx: Destiny, is finally live on netflix. As a generation that watches Winx from childhood, it will be quite fun to watch Winx while they are older. Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon’s Winx Club, aka The Legend of the Winx: Destiny, airs on Friday, January 22.
So far, judging by the trailers released for the series, The Legend of Winx: Destiny seems to be the love child of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and The Vampire Diaries. Magic and teen love abound in this series, along with a bit of darkness. Bloom is on a quest to discover some answers, and her new friends at school will help her with this. However, if you expect wings, shine and transformation like the original Winx Club, you will be disappointed. You will even be very disappointed. In fact, personally, you would never have guessed that this was a Winx Club adaptation if the characters had different names.
However, the show fits within the general outline of popular Netflix shows for young adults and will likely be a hit. And, according to the author, they decided to get rid of the general aesthetic of the cartoon to make the fantasy show look “realistic.”
